frequently asked questions

Below are some common questions we get asked. If you cannot find the answer below then please contact us here and we would be happy to help.

is it safe?

Yes! No radiation is used. The 3D camera uses the same technology as Microsoft Kinect, which has over 20 million users in the USA alone. It is even safe for those who are pregnant or who have artificial implants/joints.

What if I have used a different fit3d scanner?

It is all the same! Scan on a Fit3D machine in the USA, Wellington or here in Crowmell you will still receive comparisons to previous scans. Just make sure you always follow the scan guidelines.

How long will my test take?

As a rough guide, a Fit3d Body Scan appointment will take 15 minutes.

Why is this better than just using the scale?

Many people get discouraged when they don't see the scale move as fast as they'd like. With the Fit3D scan, you'll be able to see hundreds of measurements that are all indicators of success. While you may not see the number on the scale lower as fast as you'd like, you'll be able to see visually the progress you're making and have access to the information whenever you'd like. Plus, you'll visually see your progress as the weeks go by, keeping you motivated!

How often should I scan?

You decide! Below is the recommendation, however, it is up to you when you want to scan.

  • Scan every 2-4 weeks if you are losing weight

  • Scan every 4-6 weeks if you are participating in a fitness program

  • Scan once every one to two months for tracking the maintenance of your current status

Do I need to take my clothes off in front of anyone to have a Fit3D scan performed?

No. For the most accurate scan results you are recommended to scan in your underwear or tight clothing (e.g. gym tights and a sports bra) however for your comfort you can request our testing technician leave the room during your scan.

Who will see my measurements?

We take privacy seriously. Our online data platform is owned by Fit3D and your data is stored by them in the US. Using your private online login, your 3D images will only be seen by you. Your measurements (numbers and body shape outline) will be seen by your testing technician. Your full name and email (no other details) will be listed on our client database. Body Analytics approved personal trainers, doctors, coaches, and gym owners will have access to this list. This allows them to request access to their members/clients results. For them to gain access they will send you an email requesting either full (they can see all your images and results) or limited (they can just see your measurement numbers) access. Please only accept requests of someone you know. Please contact us here if you would like to discuss this further.
